IndiGo Fliers Rip Apart Airline For Deserting Them At Istanbul Airport For Over 24 Hours; ‘Pathetic Service’

Hundreds of passengers flying IndiGo airlines are stranded in Turkey’s Istanbul as flights keep getting delayed. According to the passengers who vented out on X, some of the flights have been delayed for more than 24 hours and the airlines is allegedly offering no help or answers.

In a press statement released amid the uproar, IndiGo apologised for the inconvenience.

“We are aware of the delays on the IndiGo flight connections to Istanbul. We accord the highest priority towards customer convenience and out teams are available at all contact points to assist customers. IndiGo apologises for the inconvenience caused to the customers,” the airline said per NDTV.

The passengers are said to be travelling from Istanbul to Delhi and Mumbai and their number is over 200. Some say the number is as high as 400.

One user posted on X calling out the airline for offering no accommodation or food and water while the passengers wait.

“Very disappointed, 100s of people including little kids are still stuck at Istanbul airport for more than 15 hours on flight to Mumbai with no accommodation and any food/water offered. No one is there to help from Indigo, worst customer service,” the user wrote.

“Me along with 400 passengers are stranded at Istanbul Airport. Not one Indigo attendant in sight since 15 hours. @TurkishAirlines refuse to help or even answer to us passengers. No compensation, food, bed to sleep. No one to speak to for updates. @IndiGo6E do better,” wrote another passenger Jash Ranawat.

According to Ranawat, his flight was scheduled from Istanbul to Mumbai on December 12 at 8:15 pm but got delayed to 11:45 am the next day. It was the third delay announcement without any response from the airline, he said.

Other passengers claimed that they were battling cold at the Istanbul airport but received no help from IndiGo.

Among the fliers is a foreign national travelling to India for the first time. “First time to India and stranded at the Istanbul airport for the last 24 hours because the Indigo flight keeps cancelling. No food. No clarity. No representative. No compensation. Pathetic treatment,” she said on X.

Notably, this comes just a few days after IndiGo was ranked the worst airline in the world. Out of 109 airlines, it was ranked 103 by AirHelp, a European air passenger claims processing and facilitating agency.
