Apple’s HomePod To Get OLED Display; Rumoured 6-7 Inch Size In Latest Update

Apple is reportedly working on an exciting new version of its HomePod, set to launch next year. This new iteration is expected to come with some significant upgrades, including a large touch-supported display. Rumored to be between 6 and 7 inches, the screen will be provided by Tianma, a Chinese company known for making OLED panels for Android smartphones. This would be a big change from the previous HomePods, which didn’t have displays, making the upcoming model a much more interactive and user-friendly device.

Tianma’s role in the production of this display is particularly interesting, as the company has also been linked to future Apple iPad displays. The OLED screen is expected to offer vibrant colors and deep blacks, enhancing the user experience and allowing users to interact directly with the HomePod, rather than relying solely on voice commands.

The new HomePod is also said to feature a square design, differing from the rectangular screens seen on tablets. Powered by Apple’s A18 chipset, the device will likely offer improved performance and support for Apple’s AI capabilities, such as advanced voice recognition and smarter home controls. The integration of Apple Intelligence will allow the HomePod to respond more intelligently and personally to each user.

Another feature that could set the new HomePod apart is a customizable lock screen with different clock face options. Some reports even suggest it could come with an in-built camera for video calls via FaceTime, making the HomePod a more versatile smart hub for the home. Users would no longer need a separate device for video chats, making communication easier and more seamless.

Additionally, the HomePod may include gesture recognition, allowing users to control the device with simple hand movements. This could provide a more intuitive and hands-free way to interact with the smart speaker, further enhancing convenience.

While earlier reports hinted at a launch in the first half of 2025, recent rumors suggest that production may be delayed until the third quarter of the year. This is reportedly due to ongoing work on the software, with Apple aiming to deliver a polished, high-performance device. If all goes as planned, the HomePod could be released by the end of 2025.

With all these upgrades, Apple’s new HomePod is shaping up to be a major leap forward in smart speaker technology. Fans are eagerly awaiting its release, as it promises to blend cutting-edge hardware with sophisticated software, creating an incredibly powerful and versatile home assistant.
