Apple has released RC betas for tvOS 18.2, visionOS 2.2, and watchOS 11.2 ahead of their public launch coming soon. Public betas are here for Apple TV and Apple Watch too. Here’s what to expect from the latest betas.
Highlights of coming updates for Apple TV 4K and more
Today’s new betas are marked RC, meaning they’re release candidates for the public launch.
Apple debuts RC updates at the end of its beta cycles in the expectation that those same software builds will ship in the wide public launch.
However, if any major bugs are uncovered during beta testing, Apple may need to make revisions and even debut a new RC build in some cases.
This focus on performance and stability means you shouldn’t expect to find new features or big changes in today’s updates.
The headliner features of this latest software wave is new aspect ratio settings plus a Snoopy screensaver in tvOS 18.2, and the big Mac Virtual Display changes in visionOS 2.2. Currently, watchOS 11.2 has no known new features.
Major software changes coming for other Apple platforms
There’s a good reason for not as much happening with the Apple TV 4K and Apple Watch this software cycle. Apple’s focus has instead been on adding big new AI features to iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, such as Genmoji, ChatGPT integration, and Image Playground.
You can download today’s RC betas by visiting the Software Update sections on your devices, assuming you have a developer account and have opted into beta updates.
What’s your experience been like with the tvOS 18.2 RC or visionOS or watchOS betas? Let us know in the comments.
